About me
Wendy Tressler serves as Planning and Strategy Officer at Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) and is a member of its Executive Leadership Team. Since joining CML in 2001 as the library’s Training and Development Manager, Wendy has held a variety of leadership roles, overseeing a broad range of functions that have supported the library’s growth and transformation. She currently oversees Strategy, Capital Planning and
Construction, Marketing and Communications, Lean and
Operational Excellence, and Technology Projects. She focuses on aligning strategy with execution, advancing strategic external partnerships, and leading initiatives that drive innovation, operational effectiveness, and community impact. Previously, Wendy served as Director of Capital Planning and Project Management, where she led construction, facilities, technology, and operational improvement initiatives across the library’s 23 locations. She directed CML’s more than $300 million building program, which included the replacement or significant renovation of 20 locations and has been nationally
recognized for excellence in library design and delivery.
Wendy is an active contributor to the library, architecture, and construction fields, frequently presenting at local, state, regional, and national conferences. She also serves as a guest lecturer for Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design Executive Education Future Library Design program. She holds an undergraduate degree and a Master of Education from The University of Toledo, as well as a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Wendy is a graduate of the Leadership Columbus Class of 2023. Wendy served as President of Core, a division of the American Library Association, from 2023 to 2024, and currently serves on the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions’ Library Design Section (2025–2029), as well as a member of Core's LIFE Committee and Fundraising Committee. In 2023, she received the Ohio Library Council’s Service Excellence Award.
